Worked All States

I had received my Worked All States (WAS) award many years ago under one of my old callsigns.  Recently, I checked logbook of the world and realized I did not have it credited under my current callsign. There were enough credits as W6GRV for the award in mixed mode, but I was missing a few for CW, SSB, and digital modes. Having just updated my DXCC records, I thought the same type of list was needed for WAS that showed all bands and modes. There are lots of holes for me to fill, and now I know where they are.

This website was then updated to add a WAS section under awards to keep DXCC company, and the WAS listing was added.

Updated DXCC Records

After sitting down to fill out the Most Wanted DX survey before it closes on Oct 15th, I realized that the list I have been using is a bit out of date. So, I went to update my excel spreadsheet for the first time on over a year. September seem to be when I update the records and make my annual submission for endorsements to my DXCC award, and today seemed like as good a day as any to update it.

There are a number of digital contacts this time, but still about 6 short of being able to apply for a digital DXCC award. For mixed, there were three new countries confirmed (PY0S, J2, and KH8 Swains Island). Using the contacts in LoTW only, an updated application was submitted. My list was updated (in pencil) with those and the cards sitting on my desk. Filling in the survey went very quickly now that my list was accurate.

Once the application is accepted and the credits are verified, I will update my list (add the pencil marks to excel file) and re-post it. Now to get back to the pileups.

Update (Oct. 15, 2013):  Application was accepted, and the page with my my DXCC status is current.

Pictures Re-Posted

It is too hot today to go out in the garden and too hot to turn on the linear on, so it is the perfect time to repair the photo gallery on my web site. The method I was using to post pictures stopped working a little while back. Today, I re-uploaded the pictures into new photo galleries and attached them back to the posts.  I am still looking for a better way to display the galleries, but at least you can once again see the photos.

The Travel Month

The past month has been full of travel. Last night, we drove home from visiting my family in  from Madera, CA.  Before this we were in Delaware visiting some of my wife’s family. And prior to that, I was in Maryland on a different trip.  There was not any time of getting on the air, but been watching the DX cluster for the pileups that I missed.

September kicks off some of my favorite contests. Next weekend is the worked all Europe SSB contest, and at the end of the month is the CQWW RTTY contest. These are followed in October and November with some more good DX contest fun.

Field day, I did not practice with my contest logging software. So when I started everything up and went to enter my first contact, the computer did not do what I wanted it to do. I had to open up a test file and do some practicing without making any contacts before I remembered how to properly the software and the function key.

With summer fading, and less time to travel, I hope I can get on the air a bit more in the coming months.

Webpage Update

This weekend, I was off at a genealogy conference in Burbank, California and did not get on the air. However, I did get some time to make a small addition to the web page. Current HF propagation information was placed at the bottom of the main page.  The font is a bit smaller than I would like.  I tried the putting it on the sidebar to the right, but that was a bit too cluttered. So for now, a small HF propagation indicator will have to do.
